Playback controls

Basic playback

Play/Pause

Click the play button or press [Space] to toggle playback - The player uses local machine resources for smooth, high-quality playback

Frame Navigation

  • [ArrowLeft] - Move back one frame
  • [ArrowRight] - Move forward one frame
  • [ArrowLeft+Shift] - Jump back 10 seconds
  • [ArrowRight+Shift] - Jump forward 10 seconds

Variable Speed Playback

  • [j] - Play backwards (press multiple times to increase speed, up to 8x)
  • [k] - Pause or return to normal playback speed (1x)
  • [l] - Play forwards (press multiple times to increase speed, up to 16x)

 

Timeline navigation

Scrub Bar

  • Drag the playhead left or right to navigate through your media
  • Hover over the timeline to preview the frame at that position
  • Create ranges by dragging the small tabs at the top of the scrubber - drag the left tab to set your in-point and the right tab to set your out-point

 

Range Controls

  • [i] - Set in-point at current position
  • [o] - Set out-point at current position
  • [c] - Clear the current range - Drag range handles on the timeline to adjust in/out points

 

Playback options

Audio Controls 

  • Adjust volume using the volume slider
  • Mute/unmute audio with the mute button
  • Audio playback may stop when playing at speeds other than real-time

 

Timecode display options 

Click on the timecode display to choose how playback position is shown:

  • Frames - Display as frame number
  • Time - Display as time (HH:MM:SS)
  • Timecode - Display as SMPTE timecode (HH:MM:SS:FF)
  • Feet - Display as feet and frames (for film/animation)
  • Timecode Settings - Configure timecode format preferences (drop frame, non-drop frame, frame rate)

 

Loop playback 

Enable looping to continuously play the current media or range:

  • Click the loop icon in the playback controls
  • When a range is set, only the selected range will loop

 

Playback speed control 

Click the speed indicator (shows current speed, e.g., "1x") to access a menu of preset playback speeds. Choose from the below. The current playback speed is indicated with a checkmark.

  • 0.25x - Quarter speed
  • 0.5x - Half speed
  • 0.75x - Three-quarter speed
  • 1x - Normal speed (real-time)
  • 1.25x - 25% faster
  • 1.5x - 50% faster
  • 1.75x - 75% faster
  • 2x - Double speed

 

Select version 

Choose which version of an asset to view when multiple versions exist. Switch between different edits or revisions without leaving the player.

 

Approval status 

Mark assets as approved or rejected directly from the player. Click the status indicator to approve, reject, or remove the current approval status.

 

Full Screen Mode 

Click the full-screen icon to enter full-screen. Press [Escape] to exit full screen

 

Other controls

Playlist toggle

Show or hide the playlist panel, if viewing a playlist share. When enabled, displays all assets in the current collection, share, or playlist for quick navigation between items.

Sidebar toggle

Show or hide the Iconik browser sidebar. The sidebar provides access to your Assets, Local Files, Comments, My Shares, and Inspector tabs. Can also be detached as a separate window.

Timeline toggle

Show or hide the visible timeline. When hidden, provides a cleaner viewing experience with more screen space for the media. The timeline can be toggled back on when you need scrubbing controls.
