The Iconik Player interface consists of several key areas:
Playback area
The central viewing area displays your media content with playback controls below the viewer.
Iconik browser
Access your Iconik collections, assets, and shares through the Iconik browser panel. The browser provides tabs for Assets, Local Files, Comments, My Shares, and Inspector.
Timeline and scrubber
The timeline shows the current playback position with draggable handles for setting in-points and out-points for ranges.
Tools menu
Access annotation tools, playback controls, and player settings from the tools menu.
Comments panel
View, add, edit, and reply to comments associated with your media.
Iconik browser
Access your Iconik collections, assets, and shares through the Iconik browser panel. The browser provides tabs for Assets, Local Files, Comments, My Shares, and Inspector.
You can configure how the browser appears:
- Sidebar Mode (Default) - The browser appears as a panel on the right side of the player window, keeping everything in one view.
- Separate Window - Detach the browser as an independent window, ideal for multi-monitor setups where you can keep the browser on one screen and the player on another. Enable this in Iconik Preferences > Preferred Iconik browser UI > Show Iconik browser in separate window.
Hidden - Hide the browser completely to maximize the playback area. Toggle visibility using the Show or hide sidebar button in the toolbar.

In the Iconik browser, you can see the following tabs:
Assets
Access your Iconik collections directly from the player and navigate through your collection structure
- Search for assets using the search field
- Double click on any asset to load it in the player
Local Files
Open and play media files directly from your computer's file system without needing to upload them to Iconik first. Browse to any supported video, image, or audio file on your local drives to preview it in the player. You can then choose to upload selected files to Iconik if desired.
Comments
View and manage all comments associated with the currently playing media. Add new comments at specific frames, reply to existing comment threads, edit your own comments, and navigate between comment markers on the timeline. All comments sync with the Iconik web interface in real-time.
My Shares
Access shares that have been created for you:
- Choose to view:
- Active Shares - Currently available shares
- All Shares - Including expired shares
- Click on “Open Share” to open and load its contents
- Click the Link icon to copy a Share’s link
Inspector
View detailed technical metadata about the currently loaded file. The Inspector displays comprehensive information, including codec details, resolution, frame rate, duration, color space, bit depth, and other technical specifications. This is particularly useful for verifying file properties and troubleshooting playback issues.
