iOS 1.0 app for iPhone and iPad

Review and approve content from anywhere. The native Iconik iOS app brings your full review workflow to mobile devices with an interface optimized for touch.

How it works
Download the Iconik app from the App Store and sign in with your Iconik credentials. From there you can:

  • Review assets with touch-optimized playback controls
  • Add comments and annotations directly on clips
  • Search your entire media library
  • Create share links for review and approval using iOS native sharing functionality
  • Home screen for quick access to favorites and shares

Why this helps
Approvals happen wherever your decision-makers are; on set, traveling, or working from an iPad. The native app eliminates the need to use mobile browsers for review workflows, giving you faster playback, better touch controls, and offline notification support.

Availability
Available to all Iconik users.

Iconik Player for master-quality playback and synchronized review (Enterprise and Pro only)

Play master-quality files that browsers can't handle. The Iconik Player is a desktop app that provides professional-grade playback and frame-accurate synchronized review sessions, all integrated with your Iconik workflow.

How it works
The Iconik Player runs on Mac and Windows as a native application. Install it, sign in with your Iconik credentials, and access all your assets, collections, and playlists. Key capabilities include:

  • Playback of master-quality formats: 32-bit EXR, ProRes 4444, RAW formats, and more
  • Frame-accurate synchronized review sessions where remote participants watch the exact same frame simultaneously
  • Live annotations and real-time collaboration during playback
  • Local playback optimization (artists review full-resolution masters locally while remote clients stream proxies, all synchronized)
  • Preview and upload content directly through the player

Technical foundation
Built on Cinesync technology, the Academy Award and Emmy-winning platform used for synchronized review on productions like Dune and The Matrix. All reviews, comments, and annotations sync with the web and mobile apps.

Why this helps
Browser-based review works for approvals and rough cuts, but finishing workflows – color grading, VFX compositing, final delivery QC – require viewing the actual master files at full resolution. Browsers can't play these formats, which traditionally meant using standalone media players outside of Iconik. The Iconik Player brings professional playback into your Iconik workflow, so all reviews, comments, and annotations stay centralized in one system. Remote teams can conduct frame-accurate synchronized reviews as if they're in the same room, with everyone's feedback captured in Iconik.

Availability
The Iconik Player is available for Enterprise and Pro plans only. Contact your account team for licensing details and technical requirements.

Please note: Unified review across all platforms

All reviews, comments, and annotations sync across the iOS app, Iconik Player, and web interface. Whether someone comments from their iPhone on set, responds from the web browser, or adds frame-specific notes from the Iconik Player, everything stays tied to the same asset with no separate version histories.

Magic links authentication for secure external shares

Iconik - Magic Links authentication.jpeg

Add email verification to external shares. Magic links authentication ensures only intended recipients can access shared content by requiring email verification before viewing.

How it works
In your share management settings, enable "Authentication with magic links." When enabled:

  • Recipients click your share link
  • They're prompted to enter their email address
  • A secure authentication link is sent to their inbox
  • They click that link to verify and access the review

Every access is logged and tied to a verified email address.

Why this helps
When sharing pre-release content, unreleased campaigns, or confidential client work, magic links provide an additional layer of access control beyond Iconik's existing security features (watermarking, password-protected shares, expiration dates, ACLs). Recipients don't need to manage passwords, and you get verification of who accessed what.

You can combine magic links with password protection on the same share for additional security.

Available to all Iconik users.

Hiscale FLICS cloud storage support

Iconik - HiScale FLICS integration cloud support.jpeg

The Hiscale FLICS integration now supports assets stored in cloud-based storage, not just those managed through ISG.

How it works
If you're using Hiscale FLICS for transcoding, Iconik can now process assets regardless of where they're stored:

  • Iconik-managed cloud storage
  • Bring-your-own-bucket configurations
  • On-premises via ISG

Configure your Hiscale integration to point to cloud storage locations, and FLICS will transcode assets just as it does for ISG-based media.

Why this helps
This gives you architectural flexibility. If you've invested in FLICS for high-performance transcoding of RAW and complex formats, you can now use it across your entire media ecosystem without being constrained to on-premises storage.

Availability
Available to all Iconik users. Requires a separate Hiscale FLICS license.

  • Asset banners in My Shares view: Consistent visual indicators appear across shared content.

Why this helps
These updates add workflow refinements that give you more control over downloads, smoother uploads with folder support, and better comment management.

New automation triggers and actions

Iconik - New Automation Engine actions and triggers_ Work smarter, not harder.jpeg

Automate more of your workflows. This release adds new actions to the Iconik Automation Engine that eliminate repetitive tasks and keep your media operations running automatically.

How it works
New actions:

  • Delete file sets - Automatically remove temporary files, outdated proxies, or unused file formats based on your criteria
  • Run Face Recognition - Trigger face detection and tagging as part of your ingest or QC workflows

Why this helps
These additions give you more control over how Iconik responds to changes in your library. Clean up storage automatically instead of manually hunting down old files. Run Face Recognition on specific asset types rather than your entire library.

Availability
Available to all Iconik users.

Discovery feature deprecation

62256bae1df9778dce9d8a24_Frame 132.jpg

The Discovery feature has been removed from Iconik as part of this release. Discovery allowed administrators to create galleries of assets and collections for users to browse and preview. We have removed this feature as the workflows Discovery supported can now be handled through Iconik's sharing, collection, and review features, which offer more flexibility and better align with modern collaboration workflows.

If you currently use Discovery galleries, we recommend transitioning to collection shares for internal team browsing, playlist shares for sequential client presentations, or Iconik's standard collection and search features for content discovery. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact support@iconik.io.

Availability
This change affects all Iconik users.
