The Iconik Player v1.0.2 release brings image sequence support, multi-channel audio, and a set of display and playback controls that VFX, animation, and broadcast teams have been asking for.
In this release:
- Image sequence review at full fidelity, directly in the Iconik Player
- Multi-channel audio with independent control over up to 16 discrete channels
- Switch between original and proxy files on the fly during playback
- Multi-layer EXR support
- Premultiplied alpha display
- Checkerboard background for transparency visibility
- Notifications panel with real-time activity feed and unread badge
Image sequence review
You can now open and review image sequences directly in the Iconik Player at full fidelity and framerate. The Player plays through the sequence just as you'd expect, giving you an accurate read on your work inside the same ecosystem where the asset lives, rather than exporting to a separate review tool. The Player also supports color profiles via OpenColorIO, allowing you to view the sequence in the intended color space. When the review is done, the sequence can be published back into Iconik: a high-resolution video render can be generated, and a web proxy is generated automatically for the broader team, and all annotations, comments, markups, and color profiles travel with the asset. From there, you can run a synchronized review session where someone on the proxy in Iconik web and someone in the Iconik Player are locked together in real time: same playhead, same moment, different versions of the file.
Multi-channel audio with 16-channels
The Iconik Player now supports up to 16 discrete audio channels, each independently controllable — mute, solo, pan, volume, and metering are all available per channel. For broadcast and operations teams running 8- or 16-channel setups, you can now hear what you're approving properly before signing off, directly inside Iconik, inside the approval loop, without downloading the file and opening it in a separate audio tool. (Please note, multi-channel audio is also available via the Iconik web interface.)
Notifications panel
The Iconik Player now includes a notifications panel, accessible via the bell icon in the top right. It surfaces activity from across your Iconik workspace in a chronological feed — comments made on assets, transcode job completions, and more — so you don't have to switch to the web to stay across what's happening. When new notifications arrive, a red badge on the bell icon shows the unread count, consistent with the Iconik web interface.
Switch between original and proxy during playback
You can now toggle between the original file and its proxy while the asset is playing in the Iconik Player — no need to stop, re-open, or change your session. For example, if someone on the web reports an issue with the proxy, you can switch to it in the moment to see exactly what they're seeing, then switch straight back.
Multi-layer EXR support
The Iconik Player now supports multi-layer EXR files, letting you load and review individual layers directly in the Player.
Checkerboard background
You can now enable a checkerboard background in the Iconik Player when reviewing assets with an alpha channel, making transparent areas immediately visible without any ambiguity about what's transparent and what isn't.
Premultiplied alpha
You can now view assets with premultiplied alpha applied in the Iconik Player, so composited elements display correctly without needing to open a separate application to verify the result.
Availability: Available to all Iconik Player users on v1.0.2.
