April 2026 – Iconik Web

Iconik's April release adds multi-select filter modifiers to the filter panel, expanded group-level control over visual watermarking, comment visibility in playlist shares, improvements to face recognition, and a notable change to how external shares work.

In this release:

  • Multi-select filters with modifiers: set Include or Exclude logic on multi-select filter fields directly in the filter panel
  • Visual watermarking: choose which groups see watermarks and control where they appear on screen
  • Face recognition improvements: better memory handling, improved matching logic, and more
  • Playlist shares: choose whether existing comments on assets are visible to recipients
  • Sharing update: the new Iconik Review experience is now the default for all external shares

Here's what's new:

Multi-select filters with modifiers

You can now set Include or Exclude modifiers on multi-select filter fields directly in the filter panel, building precise multi-condition searches without advanced query syntax. With a single item selected, you'll see Include and Exclude. With multiple items selected, the modifiers expand to include all of, include any of, exclude all of, and exclude any of, so you can express exactly the combination you need. The storage filter is a good example of what this unlocks: you can now filter for assets across a specific combination of storage purposes: files, archive, keyframes, and proxies — something that wasn't possible before, even with advanced query syntax.

A note on collections: since collections map to a single storage, only "any of" modifiers are available when filtering by collection type.

Supported fields in this release: confirmed persons (face recognition), storage location, created by, and deleted by. More fields are on the way.

More control over who sees visual watermarks

Visual watermarking now gives admins group-level precision. You can configure which groups receive watermarked proxies — all groups, specific groups, or all groups except certain ones. The core capability is the same: every proxy a reviewer sees carries their name, email, and a timestamp. This update just gives teams more flexibility in how they apply it, so you're not locked into uniform watermarking across every viewer.

Face recognition improvements

We made a set of backend improvements to face recognition in this release: better memory handling for longer videos, improved matching logic, and general processing optimizations. No changes to the UI — these run under the hood — but you should see more consistent results, particularly on longer content. Please note that Face Recognition is only available to Pro and Enterprise users.

Bring comment history into playlist shares

When creating a playlist share, you can now choose whether existing comments on the included assets are visible to recipients. The new "Show existing comments" toggle appears in the Advanced section of the playlist share dialog — it's off by default, so existing shares aren't affected. Admins can also set a system-wide default under Share Management > System Share Settings.

Playlist shares previously started with a clean slate regardless of what was already on an asset; for teams where comment history is part of the review context, this brings playlist shares in line with how individual asset and collection shares already work.

The new Iconik Review experience is now the default for external shares

When sending an external share, the option to choose between the new Iconik Review experience and the legacy sharing workflow has been removed. All shares will now default to the new review experience. If your team needs to stay on the legacy experience for now, an admin can re-enable it under Admin > Share Management > System Share Settings > General Settings by toggling on "Disable new sharing for all users."

Please note that the legacy review experience is scheduled for sunset on June 30, 2026, so now is a good time to start getting comfortable with everything the new experience has to offer!
