Iconik Player 1.0.1 Iconik Player 1.0.1

Iconik Player 1.0.1

This release expands the Iconik Player's review capabilities with version switching in playlist shares, native support for a wider range of media formats, and color management tools for working with camera-native files.

We hope these updates keep your review sessions focused and your files looking exactly as intended.

What's new in this release:

Version switching in playlists

Review any asset version directly within playlist shares. The same version dropdown available in Collection shares is now available in Playlist shares, so you can switch between versions and run compare mode during review sessions.

How it works: When viewing an asset in a playlist share, use the version dropdown to select which version you want to watch. Select compare mode to view versions side by side or via multiple display options. This works in both web and desktop experiences.

During synchronized review sessions, everyone automatically sees the same version. When anyone switches versions during a sync, the change is reflected for all participants in the session.

Why this helps: Version review is critical for creative workflows, whether you're comparing color grades, checking different edit passes, or reviewing updated masters. Being able to switch versions without leaving your playlist keeps the review process focused and efficient, especially during collaborative sessions where everyone needs to stay aligned on which version they're discussing.

OpenColorIO (OCIO) color management

Apply color changes non-destructively to any video or image media. The new color panel lets you define OCIO profiles and add 3D LUTs for color transforms, giving you precise control over how media is displayed during review.

How it works: Launch OCIO from the Tools menu. From there, load any OCIO profile, add 3D LUTs, and apply color transforms to the current media. This works non-destructively; your original file is unchanged.

Why this helps: Some media files are delivered in a camera color space, encoded to look correct only when a specific color transform is applied. Without it, the image can look flat, washed out, or otherwise incorrect. Applying the right OCIO profile or LUT in the player lets everyone review the image as it's intended to look, without needing to modify the source file or wait for a graded deliverable.

Support for new video formats

The Iconik Player now supports AV1, MKV, VP8, and VP9 media files, expanding the range of original formats you can play back natively.

How it works: Files in these formats open directly in the player; no conversion or pre-processing needed. This applies to both local playback and assets accessed through shares.

Why this helps: AV1 is increasingly common in streaming and web delivery pipelines, while MKV is widely used across production workflows. Supporting these formats natively means fewer workarounds and faster access to your media for review in the Iconik ecosystem, regardless of how it arrived.

Copy metadata to clipboard

Select some or all of an asset's metadata and copy it directly to your clipboard from within the player.

How it works: In the metadata panel, select the fields you want and use the copy option to send them to your clipboard. You can copy individual fields or the full metadata set.

Why this helps: Pulling metadata out of the player manually (retyping filenames, specs, or custom fields) can be slow and error-prone. This lets you grab exactly what you need and drop it straight into a spreadsheet, email, or database without leaving your review session.
