Iconik’s video player can play back a growing file (an asset still being ingested via real-time/live ingest, delivered as HLS) exactly like any other asset: play, scrub, pause, comment, and annotate before ingest finishes. This lets teams start reviewing and working with footage immediately instead of waiting for ingest to complete. (Not currently supported on growing files: sync review while ingest is in progress and compare mode.)
Important: The actual live encoding encoding requires a 3rd party ingest provider, we currently have tested with Hiscale, ToolsOnAir and Telestream. Furthermore the APIs and documentation is open so any ingest provider can be connected.

Navigating the Video.
When Iconik’s video player is playing a growing files there is a clear LIVE indicator when playing a growing file at the bottom left of the screen. Furthermore the red light is pulsating when playback is on the live edge.

Beyond that the it is possible to use the other common four methods for navigating the video:
- Using the buttons in the player and in the tools menu.
- Using the scrub-bar.
- Using Keyboard Shortcuts.
- Entering time-code.

Limitations for playback of growing files are as follows
- It is not possible to do sync review while ingest is in progress
- It is not possible to run asset compare mode.
