Overview
Iconik’s video player can play back a growing file (an asset still being ingested via real-time/live ingest, delivered as HLS) exactly like any other asset: play, scrub, pause, comment, and annotate before ingest finishes. This lets teams start reviewing and working with footage immediately instead of waiting for ingest to complete. (Not currently supported on growing files: sync review while ingest is in progress and compare mode.)
Important: The actual live encoding encoding requires a 3rd party transcoder, we currently have tested with Hiscale, ToolsOnAir and Telestream. Furthermore the APIs and documentation is open so any transcoder provider can be connected.
Setup
The actual live encoding and ingestion requires a 3rd party transcoder, currently Iconik has been validated with Hiscale, ToolsOnAir and Telestream. This means the transcoder is configured and connected to Iconik within the partners product.

During live ingest
Once the transcoder is live and ingesting assets they will appear in Iconik with the status GROWING. This allows Iconik users to easily identify growing assets by
- The thumbnail has a LIVE decorator
- Search for files.status:GROWING in the top search bar to find ongoing live ingest.
