Overview

Assets are one of the main entities that you work with in Iconik. On the asset page in the iOS app you can:

• Scrub, pause, and play the asset
• Comment or add annotations
• Approve or reject the asset
• Share

Navigation

If you come to an Asset’s page from the search or a collection, navigation back can be done either by pressing the back arrow in top left corner or swipe left to right.

Scrub, pause, and play

Scrubbing in video assets is done by moving the time marker left to right on the timeline. Note that moving the finger upwards while scrubbing left to right will reduce the sensitivity of the left to right movement hence allowing for easier zooming in on the correct time point. 

Start playing and pausing the asset is done by clicking the play/pause button at the center of the screen.

Comment or add annotations

On iPhone the comments panel is visible when in portrait orientation at the bottom of the screen. The size of the comments panel can be adjusted by touch and move the top of the panel. The comments panel is not visible when in landscape orientation.

On iPad the comments panel is visible when in portrait orientation at the bottom of the screen and the size of the comments panel can be adjusted by touch and move the top of the panel. When using an iPad in landscape orientation the comment panel will appear on the right side of the screen, it can be opened and closed by tapping the comment button in the top right corner

To add a comment to an asset

1. Tap in the text field “Add a comment…”  to start writing text
2. Add your text
3. Commit the comment by tapping send

To add an annotation to an asset

1. Tap the annotate button
2. Add your annotation 
3. Commit the annotation by tapping Done in the top right corner

Annotation Tools

When annotating two toolbars help you create and edit annotations

Top toolbar at the top of the screen you find the following row of buttons

• Undo
• Redo 
• Remove last annotation
• Clear all annotations 
•  Done (saves the annotation and exits editing) editing the annotation

The bottom toolbar at the bottom of the screen includes the annotation tools, some of which you might have to scroll left to right to reach depending on the screen size of your device.

• Brush - Draw freehand lines and strokes on the video
• Arrow - Draw directional arrows to point at specific elements
• Circle - Draw circular or elliptical shapes to highlight areas
• Rectangle - Draw rectangular shapes to frame or highlight regions
• Line - Draw straight lines between two points
• Text - Add text labels and notes directly on the video
• Select - Select and move existing annotations, or resize and edit them
• Line width selector  - Thinnest line (1px) to Thickest line (64px)
• Color picker - Choose colors for your annotations  

Zoom and pan

Zoom in and out of your media to examine details more closely using the two finger pinch gesture

Approve and Reject

From the asset page it is possible to Approve or Reject by tapping in the top right corner of the comments panel and select Approve or Reject on the following menu.

Share

From the asset page, you can create a share by tapping the share button in the top-right corner.
