New Iconik Review experience (Now generally available)

The new Iconik Review experience is now available for all users. You can find details about what this includes below.

If you prefer not to use the new review features, or give your users more flexibility, you have two options available under Admin > Share Management > System Share Settings > General Settings:

  1. Opt-out entirely of the new sharing experience (Reverts to the legacy sharing workflow for all new shares created.)
  2. Allow users to select the new or legacy sharing workflow (This will allow users to choose their preferred sharing workflow for new shares created.)

Synchronized, interactive review

Synchronized review allows teams to review content together in real-time. When you join a synchronized session in the Iconik web player, all participants see the same frame simultaneously. Actions like play, pause, scrub, zoom, or asset changes are mirrored for everyone in the session.

Key capabilities:

  • Frame-accurate synchronization across devices and locations
  • Live annotations that appear instantly for all participants
  • Real-time playback control is shared between all session members
  • Built on 20 years of Cinesync technology used in film and television production

How it works: Start a synchronized session from any asset or playlist. Share the session link with collaborators who can join from their browser. All playback actions and annotations sync automatically.

Access: Synchronized review is available now for all Iconik users. Create a session from the review interface on any supported asset.

Please note: Synchronized review is available on all Iconik plans with the following concurrent user limits:

  • PAYG plans: 2 concurrent users
  • Pro plans: 5 concurrent users
  • Enterprise plans: Unlimited users

Playlist support

You can now share playlists containing multiple assets in sequence. Recipients see assets in the order you've arranged them, with context preserved.

How it works: Create a playlist from the collection view, add assets in your preferred order, then share the playlist link. Recipients can review the entire sequence while maintaining access to individual asset details.

PDF review and annotation

PDFs can now be uploaded and reviewed using the same annotation tools available for video and image assets. This includes scripts, storyboards, contracts, and other documents.

How it works: Upload PDF files to Iconik or convert Office documents using the document transcoder. Open the PDF in the review interface and use standard annotation tools to add comments, markups, and feedback.

My Shares interface

The new My Shares UI provides a centralized view of all content that each user has shared or that has been shared with them. Users can track their share statuses, expiration dates, number of visits, and more.

Available information:

  • Complete list of shared content and recipients
  • See information like expiration dates and status
  • Options to recall or modify existing shares

Access: All users can access their My Shares UI via the ‘My Shares’ button next to the Iconik Search bar.

Internal-only comments

Users can now mark comments as internal-only. These comments live inside your Iconik domain and are visible only to logged-in team members. They never appear in client-facing review links or external shares.

How it works: When adding a comment, select the “Internal only” option before posting. Internal comments show a distinct visual indicator so your team can easily distinguish them.

AI-powered asset discovery

Face recognition

Face recognition is now available to all users on Pro and Enterprise plans. Face Recognition automatically detects and tags faces across your media library, helping you instantly find every appearance of a person. Once you tag someone once, the system learns to identify them in future uploads and existing content.

How it works: Enable Face Recognition in your domain settings. The system scans your media and groups similar faces into clusters. Assign a name to a face once; strong matches will be auto-confirmed, and lower-confidence matches will appear as “unconfirmed” for you to review and approve.

Use cases:

  • Sports teams: Find all footage of specific players
  • Media companies: Organize talent and celebrity appearances
  • Corporate teams: Catalog speakers and attendees from events
  • News organizations: Track public figure appearances

Management tools:

  • Merge duplicate identities when the same person appears in different clusters
  • Correct or reassign faces that have been misidentified
  • Apply bulk tagging for faster administration
  • Privacy controls and retention settings (delete individuals, bulk delete, or request full purge)

Access: Face recognition is available for Pro and Enterprise plans.

Enhanced creative tool integration

DaVinci Resolve integration

The DaVinci Resolve integration enables editors to access Iconik assets directly within Resolve and send rendered timelines back to Iconik for review or archiving.

Key features:

  • Pull assets or collections into Resolve timelines from the Iconik panel
  • Export rendered timelines directly back to Iconik
  • Access project media without manual file transfers
  • Maintain project organization between applications

How it works: Install the Iconik panel in DaVinci Resolve. Log in with your Iconik credentials to browse and import assets directly into your timeline. Completed sequences can be exported back to Iconik with metadata preserved.

Access: The DaVinci Resolve integration is available for all Iconik users. Learn more and download here:

Platform infrastructure improvements

Automations: Custom Action support

You can now set Custom Actions as 'Actions' within the Automation Engine. This allows automations to trigger external systems such as Make, Zapier, n8n, custom scripts, and more without the need to build separate webhook listeners.

New capabilities:

  • Select 'Custom Action' from the automation action list
  • Choose from your available custom actions
  • Trigger external systems automatically based on Iconik events
  • Adapt automations to specific team processes and workflows

How it works: Create custom actions in your domain settings, then reference them in automation workflows. When the automation triggers, Iconik will call your custom action endpoint to perform the desired outcome.

Access: Configure custom actions and automations in your domain administration panel.

Enhanced transcription and search features

Saved search views

You can now create and save custom list view search layouts in Iconik, making it easier to find the assets you need without having to reconfigure filters every time. Search Views eliminate the daily friction of adjusting layouts by letting you create, save, and instantly switch between purpose-built search configurations that match exactly how your team works.

  • Create, save, and manage custom search views
  • Assign at the user, group, or domain level for both personal flexibility and team-wide consistency
  • Supported options include column selection, adjustable widths, and flexible ordering

How it works: From the search page (list view), configure your preferred filters, columns, and ordering. Save the setup as a custom Search View using the edit drop down at the top-right of the UI. Views can be assigned at the user level for individual preferences, at the group level for departments, or at the domain level for organization-wide standards. Users can override defaults with their own personal configurations and switch instantly between saved views at any time.

Access: Saved search views are available now for all Iconik users.

Automatic language detection for Rev.ai transcripts

Rev.ai transcriptions can now automatically detect the spoken language in your assets and assign the correct language setting.

Improvements:

  • Automatic language detection and assignment
  • Reduced manual setup for transcription jobs
  • Fewer chances of error when transcribing multilingual content

How it works: When submitting assets for Rev.ai transcription, the system automatically detects the primary spoken language and applies the corresponding language setting.

Access: Available for all users with Rev.ai transcription enabled.
