What is it?
The Iconik Cloud Document Transcoder is a built-in transcoder for iconik that transcodes documents into pdf proxies for viewing and annotating in the cloud.
This transcoder can transcode: .doc, .docx, .dot, .dotx, .dotm, .xls, .xlsx, .xlsm, .ppt, .pptx, .pptm, .txt, .odt, .key and .rtf file types into .pdf
Where is it?
You can access your transcoder settings under Admin>Transcoders.
Setting up your Document Transcoder
To set up the Iconik Cloud Document Transcoder, you’ll need to connect it to a storage device for your system. This gives iconik a place to store the proxy pdfs it generates.
Adding a New transcoder
To add a new cloud document transcoder to your account, Select “New Transcoder" on the top right of the transcoders admin page.
In the window Give your new transcoder a name.
Toggle the ‘Cloud Transcoder’ switch on.
Then select ‘LibreOffice’ from the dropdown
Adding include and exclude rules
Like with other transcoders [link] you can set the document transcoder up to include only certain files, or exclude certain files from being transcoded.
Example: If you want to prevent .txt files from being transcoded, simply add *.txt to the exclude field.
Enabling the Transcoder on a Storage
In order to work properly with the Document transcoder needs to access one of your storage devices. If you haven’t set any of your own up, you can use one of your default iconik-files-regional or iconik-files-gcs storages to start.
Step 1 - Open your Storage settings
Go to Admin>Storages, and then click the tab “Transcode settings”
Step 2 - Add your Document Transcoder to your storage
In the panel to the right, select your Document transcoder from the list, and then click “Add”
Disabling the transcoder on Storages
To remove a transcoder from a certain storage device, go to the Admin>Storages page, and select the storage device you want to remove the transcoder from. In the panel on the right, select the trash icon next to the transcoder you want to remove. This will save your changes immediately.
Access Control for your Transcoder
The ACLs tab for your transcoder defines who is allowed to use the transcoder. You can add individual users or Groups (legacy) or Teams, and the interface uses the same mechanism as adding Access Controls to Assets.
Editing your Document Transcoder
If you need to edit your settings on the Document Transcoder, simply go to Admin>Transcoders and click on the next to the listing, and select Edit Transcoder’ from the dropdown.
You can then change the name, any patterns, or change the ACLs for the transcoder.
Deleting the Transcoder
If for some reason you need to delete the Document Transcoder, simply go to Admin>Transcoders and click on the next to the listing, and select ‘Delete Transcoder’ from the dropdown.
Confirm the deletion in the next window, and then the transcoder will be removed from your system and any storages it has previously been added to.
