Archiving allows you to move an asset’s original format to another storage, for example if you don’t need access to it very often or if you want to make sure that certain users will not be able to delete it.
Roles
These are the roles that are needed:
- can_read_assets
- can_read_formats
- can_read_storages
- can_archive_formats
- can_read_files
- can_write_transfers
- can_restore_archived_formats

- Go to the asset
- Open the files panel
- Right click on the format
- Select Archive Format
- Select the archive storage if there is more than one.
- Click SUBMIT to confirm.
Restoring a Format
If the file is archived, and you have the roles can_archive_formats and can_read_storages and there is a storage with archive set you can archive files.
- Go to the asset
- Open the files panel
- Right click on the format
- Select *Restore Format
Archive Status
Icons show the archive status of the asset. These are to the right of the approval status. Archived status is also shown in the files panel.
This asset has its main original format online, but it has also been archived.
If the format is then deleted from the main storage it will be marked as deleted on the main storage, and an additional icon is shown for that state. It is possible to restore it from archive once in this state.
