An export location lets you export the files and potentially metadata from your iconik storage to an external location. The export location and iconik will not keep track of what files are on the storage used by the export location. The only record will be that as a Job entry the export was done, by whom to what storage.
Export Locations allow Domain Owners to set up commonly used export paths that the users of iconik can then use to quickly send files and their metadata and transcriptions. By using export locations, users don’t need to worry about paths or the requirements of the destination.
Roles
These are the roles that are needed:
- Owner
- can delete export locations
- can read export locations
- can write export locations
Export Location Storage
Export locations use storages that have been defined in iconik. See Storage Overview for more information and how to set up Storage devices and services for use as export location storages.
Metadata Export
When you create an Export Location, you can specify whether metadata is also exported at the same time when an export of an asset happens. This will be in the form of a file placed alongside the asset’s file, with the same name but a different extension (which depends on the format exported)
Which metadata fields and values are exported is controlled by Metadata Views.
The format is also possible to pick, with CSV, JSON and XML. XML and JSON are the preferred formats.
Transcription Export
Export Locations can also define any transcription that an asset has that will be exported and placed alongside the main asset file.
The format is possible to pick, and the extension used for the export will also be defined.
Permissions
Each Export Location has access control over who is allowed to use and change the export location. This is done after creating the export location; see updating export location for more information.
