Supported File Types

Almost all file types are supported by iconik for storage and retrieval. Certain media file-types have particular support for transcoding, metadata extraction and previewing from within iconik. A guide to what is supported is listed below.

To support creating previews of filetypes that we don’t natively support it’s possible to integrate with third-party transcoders, or using our watchfolder transcoder support with the iconik Storage Gateway.

It is important to note that we have tested the formats below but due to differences in Transcoder and Codec implementation that it’s possible for certain media types to potentially have problems. Please test your media in iconik

If you are using iconik Storage Gateway or iconik Edge Transcoder it’s important to keep it up-to date to get the latest file types supported.

Video Files

We try and create previews and extract metadata for all video types. Here is an example of container types and codecs:

Please note that due to the amount of different configurations of channels, sample rates, bit-depths, encodings and profiles that not all combinations might work. Please test iconik with the files that you want to support if they are not stereo 16bit, 44.1Khz

Known formats not supported: Sound Designer 2 and CAF (Core Audio Format).
